zero, nothing, art, Royal Academy London

‘It is through subjectivity that nothingness appears in the world, it can equally be said that it is through the world that nothingness comes into being.’ Maurice Merleau-Ponty

‘Out of the Dark’ features a dot as the starting point of a pattern suggestive of the ‘Dreaming’ symbolism of indigenous Australian cultures. The elements are crafted from formulas, theories, writings and essays researched and listed by the artist. Placed within these, are prose and poetry reflecting Brigitte's thoughts and ideas of zero.
